Discussing policies and rules is not my favorite part of childcare, but it is absolutely necessary. So, if you will grab a cup of tea, coffee, or your favorite soda, then we will go over the policies that make it possible for my home childcare business to run smoothly.
The weekly fee is due each Friday for childcare for the following week. The full week's fee is to be paid even if your child is absent.
Each January you will receive a year-end statement for the previous year for your tax purposes.
My hours of childcare are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please be sure and have your child picked up by 5:30. This is very important to me. If your child will be coming at a time earlier or later than your usual arrival time, please let me know. I serve breakfast at 8:00. If you will be arriving later than 8:20, please feed your child breakfast before you come.
I receive paid holidays on: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If a paid holiday is on a weekend, I will take off either the Friday before or the Monday after the actual holiday for my paid day off. If the holiday is on a Thursday or Tuesday and most people are off on the Friday or Monday to make a longer weekend, then I get that Friday or Monday off (paid) also.
If I take a week of vacation, then you are not required to pay for that week. If and when that is to take place, I will give you plenty of notice.
If I am ill and do not provide a backup in my home, then you may deduct for that day on the following Friday's fee.
You may visit your child in my home whenever you please, however, please understand that this may cause your child to be confused or distressed when you leave them again.
I do not have pets in my home, however, we have been known to have a stray bunny visit the backyard.
(Notice the brown bunny in the lower right. After the bunny left we read Rabbits and Raindrops by Jim Arnosky)
Upon admission of your child, it is required by the state, that you submit a copy of your child's up-to-date immunization record, and a statement of your child's health from your child's doctor.
You are not to bring a sick child to daycare. If your child has any symptoms of having a contagious illness, such as, a fever (oral temp. of 100.4 or greater, armpit temp. of 99.4 or greater, or rectal temp. of 101.4 or greater), is vomiting or has diarrhea, is lethargic, has abnormal breathing, or shows any other signs or symptoms, then do not bring him/her.
If your child becomes ill while in my care, I will separate your child from the others and call you to have your child picked up as soon as possible.
If there is a medical emergency, I will call 911, administer CPR and/or first aid as needed until they arrive, and call you as soon as I possibly can.
When your child has been out with an illness, they may come back when they are free of fever, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. for 24 hours or, when a physician has said they may return.
If your child needs any medication administered, then you must sign and date an authorization for me to do so, with doses and times included. The medication must be in the original container.
If someone that I do not know will be picking up your child, then you must notify me of this, and that person will need to provide me with their driver's license. I may make a copy of the driver's license to put in your child's records.
When discipline or guidance is needed, I will redirect their attention. For children three years of age and up, there may need to be a time-out for a few minutes and an explanation of why they are in time out. Time-out takes place in the same room that the other children and I are in. The child must sit to the side and not join in the activities during his/her time-out (about 1 minute per year of the child's age, a three year old for three minutes).
